In a vibrant display of unity, determination, and innovation, the Panda Event once again brought together young women entrepreneurs from various backgrounds and occasions to acknowledge their efforts and contributions to the national economy. This exceptional platform has become a beacon of inspiration for aspiring young women business owners across Tanzania.
On the 12th of May 2023,Her initiative hosted a Panda Event; Digital Skills for Transformed Business. Emphasizing on the importance of embracing technology and innovation in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, Mr. Selestine G. Kakele, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. The Guest of Honor at the event highlighted the significance of the event and showcased the government’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs.
“Digital education is not a luxury, it is a necessity in today’s world, so we will ensure that women and girls get more education about this issue,”
He also added,
“We must create an enabling environment for women and girls by promoting and developing their businesses through the Digital ecosystem”
Panda 2023’s goal was to promote new solutions, ideas, and a collective voice on issues related to the use of innovation and technology in transforming traditional businesses into digital enterprises. With technology playing an increasingly vital role in modern entrepreneurship, the event served as a platform for young women to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by the digital realm. pANDA brought together a diverse range of participants, including young women entrepreneurs, government officials, civil society organizations (CSOs), international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), development partners, as well as celebrities and influencers working within the digital ecosystem. This collective gathering of minds fostered a dynamic environment for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and networking.
event involved different key speakers, Lilian Mwamdanga from UN WOMEN represented Ms. Hodan Adoo a country representative for UN Women in Tanzania, on her speech she was quoted saying;
“We need to take concrete steps to ensure that women have the same opportunities for various digital businesses as for men”

Throughout the event, messages were conveyed through various engaging mediums, including captivating plays and traditional dance performances, thought-provoking panel discussions, and captivating painting artwork. These forms of expression enriched the overall experience and created a vibrant atmosphere of inspiration, creativity, and collaboration. Moreover, the Panda Event gave a chance for young women to showcase their businesses by creating an inclusive exhibition space where young women entrepreneurs could showcase their talents and businesses.

During the panel discussion Mr. Jumanne Mtambilike who is the CEO of Sahara Ventures was quoted as saying
“Let’s try to keep up with the speed of technological change, because if we look at it now, there are jobs that have completely changed and where we are heading there are others that will change and disappear completely. Also Ms. Sekela Yona the CEO of Rangi Rangi used the art of painting to showcase how gender norms, cyberbullying and environmental constraints affect women’s involvement in the digital economy.
Besides all, the Panda Event also served as a milestone celebration for the Panda Digital platform, which marked its two-year anniversary. Panda Digital has been instrumental in enhancing skills development for over 5,000 young women entrepreneurs through its website and an artificial intelligence SMS model. This online platform has revolutionized access to education and resources, enabling women to overcome barriers of time, money, and language. The Panda Event offered an opportunity to reflect on the transformative impact of Panda Digital and celebrate the success stories of the women who have benefitted from this groundbreaking initiative.
Lydia Moyo, Her Initiative’s Executive Director stated that,, , the goal of establishing Panda Digital is to ensure that girls and young women get the necessary skills and resources to start and run their own businesses to reach the digital economy.
