About the GOING BEYOND Project:
DOT and the Mastercard Foundation have partnered on the Going Beyond – Partnering for a Youth-Led Future project. This five-year collaboration between Digital Opportunity Trust and the Mastercard Foundation aims to empower over 300,000 young women and men across four African countries, fostering entrepreneurship and providing vital skills for the future. The Going Beyond project offers tailored training, mentorship, and support to nurture the unique skills and ambitions of young people by connecting them with local Youth-Led Organizations (YLOs) or Youth-Serving Organizations (YSOs) to explore upcoming training programs designed to equip them with the tools they need to thrive.
The project goal: Increased quality of life, resilience, agency and voice of African youth in four countries. The project aims to impact 21 youth leaders who are post graduates aged 18-35 who are graduates or underemployed who will be recruited by Her Initiative and they will serve as facilitators who will in turn impact 1575 Youth Peers - young Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise(MSME) owners aged 18-35, providing them with essential training, resources, access to networks, and support to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and expand their businesses.
As an implementing partner Her Initiative’s alignment with the Going Beyond project shows a great prospect and significance as we all target to empower young women and elevate them from the state of poverty, giving them power, voice and skill towards combating the challenging factors of technological advancement and societal limitations. This project will be implemented in 3 regions in Tanzania which are Dar es salaam, Arusha and Morogoro for a period of 6 months from August 1st 2024 to 31st of January 2025.
