The Her Initiative team recently visited Kisarawe District in the Coast Region for a special activity, the distribution of business start-up materials to young women who had successfully completed training under the Plan B Project. These young women had been equipped with essential knowledge and skills, including financial literacy and entrepreneurship, to prepare them for the world of business.
This distribution was more than just handing over items; it was about opening doors to possibility. Each girl received tools and materials tailored to the type of business she aspired to launch, whether in tailoring, retail, catering, or other ventures. With these resources, they now have a practical foundation to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality.
For many of these young women, accessing start-up capital or resources has been the biggest challenge to starting their businesses. By providing business-specific materials, Her Initiative is supporting them to overcome this barrier, while also sending a powerful message: their goals are valid, their ideas are worth supporting, and their future is full of potential.
Leah, a beneficiary of the previous phase of plan B attended the event to share her journey and experience “When I completed my training under Plan B, I was determined to start my business but I had no resources. The materials I received gave me a real push to begin, and today I earn an income that helps me support myself and my family. I am so proud to see other young women getting the same chance I did.” — Leah, Beneficiary of the Plan B Project
Through the Plan B Project, Her Initiative is advancing its mission to empower young women economically and socially. This initiative is not only fostering entrepreneurship but also nurturing self-reliance, reducing financial dependency, and sparking a ripple effect of empowerment within communities.
The impact of this effort will soon be visible in the small businesses that take shape, the incomes generated, and the inspiration these young women provide to others in Kisarawe and beyond.
