How Her Initiative is Driving Transformative Change for Young Women in 2025
As we embark on 2025 with renewed energy and determination, Her Initiative reflects on the valuable lessons learned in 2024 and how these insights are shaping our path forward. From strengthening financial sustainability to expanding programs that empower young women, we are committed to making a lasting impact. Our vision is clear: to ensure that every young woman has the tools, resources, and support she needs to thrive.
Strengthening Impact and Sustainability
One of the key lessons from 2024 was the importance of financial resilience. To secure long-term sustainability, we introduced a reserve policy that ensures operational stability even during funding gaps. This move enhances our ability to maintain programs, invest in innovation, and diversify our funding streams. By integrating transparency and strong oversight, we are building a future where economic empowerment for young women remains a reality.

Empowering Out-of-School Girls: Lessons from Plan B
True empowerment extends beyond economic opportunities; it includes mentorship, psychosocial support, and community engagement. Through our work with out-of-school adolescent girls, we have witnessed the transformative power of holistic support. By collaborating with local authorities, parents, and organizations specializing in Gender-Based Violence response, we are creating safer environments where girls can thrive. These young women are not just survivors; they are future leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.

Engaging In-School Girls Through Mshiko Clubs
Many adolescent girls face academic struggles due to financial constraints. Recognizing this challenge, Her Initiative launched Mshiko Clubs, an initiative that combines financial education, peer mentorship, and small income-generating activities. By fostering financial discipline early, Mshiko Clubs help young girls remain engaged in education and develop crucial life skills that set them up for success.

Building a Movement: The Stawi Lab Project
Through Stawi Lab, we are scaling impact by empowering youth-led organizations with the tools to succeed. By fostering peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and strategic partnerships, we create a ripple effect of sustainable change. However, we have learned that real impact goes beyond training; it requires hands-on coaching, presence, and long-term support. Our goal is to continue strengthening organizational resilience and capacity-building efforts.
Winning Global Recognition While Staying Authentic
Her Initiative’s work has been recognized through prestigious awards such as the Global Citizen Award and the KBF Africa Prize 2023/2024. These accolades reaffirm the importance of authenticity, innovation, and storytelling. By leveraging digital solutions like Panda Digital and amplifying the voices of young women, we continue to drive global impact while staying true to our mission.

Team building activities
To kick off the new year with fresh energy and stronger connections, our team dove into a series of fun and challenging team-building activities. From intense obstacle courses at Total Ninja to the laughs and quick thinking of dinner-time charades, each moment brought us closer together.

These experiences weren’t just about competition, they were about learning to support one another, push our limits, and celebrate small wins as a team. We discovered new sides to each other, shared a lot of laughs, and set a renewed tone of unity and collaboration for the year ahead.

Site visit: The African Leadership Academy Visit
The HI team visited one of South Africa’s largest pre- universities/leadership academy, which enrolls students from over 47 African countries, many from modest backgrounds, and provides up to 95% financial assistance. During the visit, the team toured the campus, gaining firsthand insight into the academy's operations, systems, and environment designed to empower students to excel and become future leaders.

Capacity-Building and AI-Driven Learning
Our recent retreat to South Africa was a transformative experience, equipping our team with insights on AI-driven data analysis, strategic planning, and leadership development. Through collaborations with organizations like Adanian Labs and the African Leadership Academy, we are integrating cutting-edge strategies into our programs to maximize impact.

Looking Ahead: A Year of Unprecedented Impact
As we move forward into 2025, Her Initiative is more determined than ever to drive meaningful change. With strengthened programs, innovative approaches, and deepened collaboration, we are poised to expand our reach and empower thousands of young women across Tanzania.
