Mshiko Club participants from Dar es Salaam Girls Secondary School had the remarkable opportunity to attend a public lecture held in Dar es Salaam by the President of Namibia. The girls actively engaged in the session posing thoughtful questions to Her Excellency and even capturing a commemorative photo with her.

This experience extended beyond economic empowerment. It provided the girls with exposure to leadership, diplomacy, and public speaking, enriching their personal development in powerful ways.
The event played a key role in boosting their self-esteem and helping them see the possibilities that lie ahead. Meeting a sitting woman president served as an inspiring reminder that their dreams are valid and achievable.

We are incredibly proud of the growth, confidence, and ambition these girls continue to demonstrate proof that Mshiko Clubs are shaping not only financially independent girls, but bold future leaders.
Creating Safe Spaces and Celebrating Success: A Powerful Month for Girls in Mshiko Club
In May, the Mshiko Club team had the privilege of being part of two powerful moments that highlight what it truly means to invest in girls, ensuring their safety and celebrating their growth.
Safety First: Empowering Girls to Protect Themselves and Others
A safe environment is essential for any girl to thrive and pursue her dreams. That is why this May, our safeguarding experts Celine Julius visited Dar es Salaam Girls Secondary School to engage students in meaningful conversations about safety, protection, and their rights.
The session was a powerful space for dialogue. Students learned about different forms of abuse, their fundamental rights as young people, and the appropriate steps to take when they or someone they know is at risk. The discussions were honest, practical, and eye-opening.

The aim was clear: to equip girls with the knowledge and confidence to recognize abuse, protect themselves, and speak up. Creating safe learning environments goes beyond physical safety, it is about empowering girls to know they matter, and that their voices deserve to be heard.

This event reaffirmed a core belief of the Mshiko Club: when girls feel safe, they are more likely to stay in school, focus on their goals, and build a better future.
Celebrating Our Changemakers: Mshiko Club Graduates Shine
Later in the month, we had the pleasure of joining the Form Six graduation ceremony at Dar es Salaam Girls Secondary School, where we celebrated a very special group of 16 Mshiko Club members who have completed their secondary education and are ready to take on the world.
Each of these young women was awarded a special certificate recognizing their outstanding participation and commitment as part of Mshiko Club. They have been more than students, they have been champions of change, empowered through financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills training.
Through their involvement in the program, these girls not only remained in school through to graduation, but also developed the confidence and tools to step into their next chapter with clarity and courage.
Many of them shared how they plan to use their knowledge in everyday life, whether it is managing money at home, starting small businesses, or supporting others in their communities and universities.
