We had the pleasure of hosting our valued partner, Girls Opportunity Alliance, for a field visit that began at the Her Initiative office, where we engaged in a thoughtful discussion on the progress of the Mshiko Program reflecting on its impact, the challenges faced, and the opportunities ahead.

The team then visited two of our vibrant Mshiko Clubs at Saranga and King’ongo Secondary Schools. The visit provided a powerful moment of reflection and connection and an opportunity for our partners to witness firsthand how their support translates into tangible impact in the lives of young girls.
Seeing Impact in Action
At both schools, the Girls Opportunity Alliance team engaged directly with club members who confidently showcased their income-generating projects, including soap making, crisps production, and vegetable gardening.

These demonstrations allowed our partners to experience how Mshiko Clubs blend practical entrepreneurship with learning, turning simple ideas into skills that foster independence, confidence, and creativity among students.

The visit was also a chance to see how the clubs have grown into safe, empowering spaces where girls not only learn financial skills but also develop leadership and teamwork abilities that extend beyond the classroom.
A Shared Commitment to Empower Girls
Throughout the visit, the conversations and interactions underscored the shared commitment between Her Initiative and Girls Opportunity Alliance, a commitment to advancing financial literacy, keeping girls in school, and preparing them for self-reliant futures.

Our partners expressed appreciation for the girls’ enthusiasm and innovation, as well as the tangible outcomes achieved through the Mshiko Clubs model. The experience reaffirmed how collaboration can accelerate the journey toward gender equality and economic empowerment.
Moving Forward Together
This visit was a check-in and a celebration of what strong partnerships can achieve. As we continue to expand the reach of Mshiko Clubs, we are inspired by the unwavering support of partners like Girls Opportunity Alliance, who share our belief that investing in girls’ skills is investing in community resilience and long-term change.
