Under the Going Beyond project, we successfully conducted engagement, safeguarding, and monitoring sessions in Morogoro and Dar es Salaam, reaching over 300 parents, guardians and partner representatives connected to the Digital Business Program.

The purpose was direct, to make families fully aware of where their young people spend their time, what skills they are gaining, and how this program is shaping their future. Parents left informed and inspired, embracing their children’s participation in Digital Business training. What was once hesitation turned into encouragement, creating a foundation of support that strengthens young entrepreneurs’ journeys.
Safeguarding Outcomes — Safe Learning, Safe Leadership, Safe Growth
We also completed safeguarding sessions with both Youth Peers and Youth Leaders. These conversations helped participants understand their rights, boundaries, reporting systems and accountability measures that protect them within the program and inside host organizations.

Young people now participate without hesitation, confident that someone is watching out for their safety. And for many parents, safeguarding shifted from something written to something real, they saw how protection is lived, not just promised.
Monitoring & Evaluation Findings — What We Saw on the Ground
In Morogoro, we finalized field-based monitoring and evaluation for Cohort 1, including:
- 5 Key Informant Interviews with Youth Leaders
- 1 FGD with 15 participants (9 Youth Peers – 6F/3M + 6 Youth Leaders – 4M/2F)
- Observation of live Digital Business classes
- Assessment of how skills are being used in real business activities

These activities generated actionable learning. We observed Youth Leaders effectively facilitating training in local spaces, and we confirmed that young entrepreneurs are applying digital skills, particularly in marketing and product promotion. We also identified gaps — some peers require more support in business management and consistency. These findings now guide the next cycle of program strengthening.

Because of these activities:
✔ Families now understand and support youth participation
✔ Youth Leaders are delivering meaningful learning in their communities
✔ Field data is informing improvements for the next phase
These outcomes strengthen our ecosystem of support at home, in learning spaces, and across the wider community, making it easier for young entrepreneurs to grow, participate confidently, and use digital skills to build real economic progress.
