One of the highlights of this month was a working visit to Global Impact Transformation (GIT), one of our valued host organizations. Together with the Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) team, we had the opportunity to see how youth learning spaces are evolving and how youth leaders are shaping digital and entrepreneurial skills among their peers.

The visit opened with a rich conversation between the Digital Opportunity Trust team, the Her Initiative Going Beyond team, and the Global Impact Transformation staff. This dialogue created space to reflect on what the project has taught the host organization so far, the successes, the challenges, and the ways the youth leader placement is contributing to both learning and community growth.

From there, we joined a live Digital Business session led by the youth leader at the center. Watching a young person guide peers through digital skills highlighted the essence of this initiative: young people building confidence by teaching and learning from one another in an environment that feels both engaging and supportive.

The day also created room for more personal exchanges. The DOT team spent time speaking directly with youth peers and the youth leader, listening to their experiences and gathering honest feedback. These conversations highlighted opportunities to further strengthen the learning environment, from enhancing connectivity, space, and equipment, to making sessions even more inclusive by supporting young mothers and ensuring safeguarding policies are visible and accessible to everyone.

The visit concluded with a collective feedback session at the Her Initiative offices, where the DOT and Her Initiative teams engaged in an open and honest exchange. Rather than simply reviewing activities, the discussion focused on what was working well and where improvements could be made on both sides. This created a constructive space for reflection, accountability, and shared commitment, ensuring that each team could identify how best to contribute to the program’s continued success.

What stood out most was the collaborative spirit. The visit was about identifying challenges and committing to practical solutions that will make a real difference for the youth who rely on these spaces to learn and grow.

This visit reminded us, creating the right conditions to be safe, inclusive, and well-resourced will allow youth to thrive while feeling supported and cared for.
