July has been a month of visible impact and exciting momentum for the Going Beyond program. As our youth leaders continue to settle into their host organizations in both Dar es Salaam and Morogoro, we have witnessed firsthand how passion, support, and structured mentorship can catalyze community transformation.
Youth Leaders Take Root in Their Communities
The month kicked off with the continued introduction of youth leaders into their assigned host organizations, a critical step in rooting them within spaces where their skills can grow and thrive. These host organizations are not just placements; they are intentional partnerships with community-recognized entities that act as enablers of impact.

By aligning youth leaders with organizations that already have established networks, we ensure smoother mobilization and stronger community engagement. More importantly, these host organizations serve as vital bridges, connecting youth leaders with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) within their communities. This connection creates a natural entry point for youth leaders to deliver digital business training and support to MSMEs, allowing them to work directly where their efforts are needed most.

Beyond offering space and visibility, host organizations provide a platform for mentorship, collaborative learning, and grassroots innovation. Their role is key in turning youth-led ideas into action, and in building trust between youth leaders and the communities they serve.
Driving Digital Empowerment for MSMEs
A standout achievement this month has been the roll-out of the Digital Business Program, with most of the youth leaders taking the lead in facilitating training sessions for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in their communities. These sessions have been crucial in helping local entrepreneurs understand the power of digital tools in strengthening and scaling their businesses.

Whether it is teaching business owners how to use digital platforms for marketing, managing finances online, or adopting e-commerce solutions, the youth leaders are bridging the digital divide, one training at a time. To support their visibility and branding efforts, all youth leaders received starter packages designed to enhance their professional presence within their communities. These packages included branded materials such as T-shirts, notebooks, ID badges, and more tools not just for identity but for credibility and recognition.

By showing up professionally and confidently, youth leaders are beginning to be recognized not just as trainees, but as trusted connectors and facilitators of change.
Strengthening the Inner Leader: Emotional Intelligence Masterclass
In July, we also launched a Masterclass on Emotional Intelligence, a digital course delivered by experts from Baobab Mastercard Foundation. This course is equipping youth leaders with crucial soft skills such as self-awareness, empathy, communication, and stress management which are essential for effective leadership in both community and organizational spaces.

The ability to lead starts with the ability to understand and manage oneself. Through this course, youth leaders are learning to navigate challenges with emotional agility and to inspire others not just through knowledge, but through connection and compassion.
The Bigger Picture: Building a Pipeline of Community Champions
Each activity this month speaks to a larger narrative: Going Beyond is building a generation of young leaders who are not waiting for change, they are becoming it.
By combining digital literacy, emotional intelligence, and real-world experience, the program is shaping youth who are technically capable, emotionally grounded, and deeply rooted in their communities.
